Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic healing systems. It was developed thousands of years ago in India. It is made up of two words “Ayur “and the “Veda”. ”Ayur” refers to life, and the “Vedas” mean knowledge. It therefore together means the knowledge of life. Since Ayurveda is supposedly created by Brahma and has a divine origin, it is considered to be a holistic science. It believes that human body is made up of three Doshas (faults or mistakes): Vata, Pitta and Kapha & these three Doshas control the different functions of the body. Vatta controls movement in muscles, pulsations of heart, feelings and emotions like excitement, laughing, crying pain etc. Pitta governs digestion, nutrition, metabolism, body temperature and its color. Kapha is present in nose, plasma, cytoplasm, sinuses and other liquid secretion. Human emotions like attachment, love, anger are also controlled by Kapha. It gives biological strength to the body.
Since everybody has different body structure, hence Ayurvedic treatment is different for different body. It is based on personalized regimen for every individual. God and nature created each one of us in a unique way and Medicine should regard our individuality. Ayurveda stands for our individuality in theory and in practice.
